Ancil,Nadine & Anaya.01Ancil,Nadine & Anaya.01My cousin Ancil created a better tone in this photo that complements and augment the look of sophistication from his daughter Nadine on camera left and the semi inqusitorial smile of his grand daughter, Anaya.

My cousin Ancil  complemented  his daughter's (Nadine) smile of sophistication who is  on camera left and the quissical smile of his grand daughter, Anaya.

Now this is a simple family image done in 2013 at one of our family Christmas  celebrations. But I want to use it to say some things about the past and some positive/philosophical things about aging to which my cousin & I subscribe . It was stated in this months newsletter from the University that I attended in the UK.

I admired this chap a lot when I was a youth because I saw in him what I saw in my favorite uncle who died when I was about 10. So in a sense he carried on the reference mantle. We never really talked much because he was already a teenager.

His mother and mine were first cousins and they were very close. So close, that his mother was my Godmother. In our part of the world that's like a stand in for a mother and she was like that because I spent much quality time with her discussing all manner of things. Also ,with her mother ,too. She was my grandmother's sister.

This side of my family made my going to the UK easier because some of their family members  resided in London and I initially stayed  with them before moving on to my accomodation at Sussex.

This morning I got my newsletter from the University and while browsing I came upon an article by Kathleen Baird-Murray(Law,1986). If my memory serves me right she would have been there while I was at the university if that's an exit date.

Nevertheless, she is now into journalism and showed a video of an interview with a 91 year old retired hair stylist name Rose ,who she said had the original idea/technique for the blow dryer.

The important thing here for me and you readers  is the 91 year old MAXIMS (as Mrs Baird-Murray,terms them) for living which I appeciated and want to share  with you(similar ideas the men in my family understand and adhere to-there are two at present in their 90's).

The maxims:

BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE ACHIEVED

FIND STRENTH IN ADVERSITY

WEAR CLOTHES THAT YOU ARE COMFORTABLE IN (My modification)

SMALL CHANGES CAN MEAN BIG CHANGES

ONLY SHOW YOUR GOOD BITS (I have decided to take this one a bit more seriously, but expand on the concept)

p.s. After all that was said before wouldn't you say he looks younger than me?
